The Topic:  IBM’s latest implementation of RPG

by Christopher F. Burns, Sr.

Senior Consultant, GEMKO Information Group

IBM has implemented sweeping changes of late to one of our favorite languages.  RPG was declared dead many years ago by detractors and supporters alike, but apparently Big Blue didn’t get the memo.  Either that or rumors of RPG’s death were greatly exaggerated.  For those who have watched from the sidelines while modern RPG development has passed them by, this is a RARE opportunity for a do-over.  It may just help save your company’s strategic applications (and your career) from the wrecking ball. Join us as we take a look at the newest RPG, including:

·         How we got here (the good and the bad)

·         Prerequisites on IBM i

·         The free forming of traditional spec types

·         Considerations for engineering new applications

·         The impact on modifying old applications

·         RPG’s place in modern application architecture

·         The prime importance on education

Please feel free to check back often for additional details which are added regularly, as they become available.

Thanks!
